Springs carry the entire weight of the door. When one snaps you usually hear a bang like a gunshot and the door becomes impossible to lift. Replacing them requires winding bars and correct cycle-rated parts; a mismatched spring wears out in a season.
We measure wire size, inside diameter and length, install high-cycle springs, then re-balance the door so the opener isn't carrying load it was never designed to lift.
What this covers
- Torsion and extension springs
- High-cycle upgrade options
- Both springs replaced in pairs for even wear
- Door balance and travel re-set afterward

Garage Door Spring Replacement FAQ
- Should both garage door springs be replaced together?
- On a two-spring door we recommend replacing both. They are installed at the same time and wear at the same rate, so when one breaks the second is usually close behind. Replacing the pair also keeps the door balanced, which protects the opener.
- How long do torsion springs normally last?
- A standard torsion spring is rated for roughly 10,000 cycles — about seven to ten years for an average household, or three to five years on a door that opens many times a day. High-cycle springs are rated 25,000 cycles and up.
- Can the door be opened with a broken spring?
- It should not be. Without spring tension the door carries its full weight — often 150 to 300 pounds — and forcing it with the opener can bend panels, snap cables or damage the operator. Leave it closed and call us.
- What information is needed for an accurate estimate?
- The door size, whether it is single or double, how many springs it has, and if possible the numbers stamped or painted on the existing spring. Photos of the spring and the shaft help. Final pricing is confirmed on site and approved by you before any work begins.
